Replacing a windshield is not normally a huge expense, however it is still much more costly than repairing damage instead, unless of course your insurance policy covers replacement and repairs. Small chips and cracks can be caused by any number of things including debris kicked up on the road or blown by the wind, hail damage, or an innocent accident.

When a windshield is chipped, a crack (or several) can develop without a moment’s notice, which is why the damage should be repaired as soon as possible, ideally on the same day. The repair process on most chips takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish, resulting in the appearance of damage being greatly reduced and also restoring the structural integrity of the windshield. A clear resin is injected into the chip once the area has been cleaned and all particles vacuumed away. The resin is then hardened (cured) with an ultraviolet light, and after about 30-45 minutes you’re ready to get back on the road again!

Depending on your coverage, many auto insurance providers will cover the windshield repair cost completely with no deductible, which means you won’t need to pay out of pocket.
