We get a lot of questions about windshield and auto glass repair and replacement.  Often, people simply do not realize how important it is to have a well-maintained windshield.  In fact, it is crucial to the overall safety of your vehicle.  Listed below are some commonly asked questions that we receive at DeDona Auto Glass.

How do I know if my windshield needs to be repaired or replaced?
In many cases a replacement windshield is not necessary. Depending on the size and location of the chip, most can be repaired.  If the size of the chip is no larger than a quarter (this includes any cracks extending out from the chip), it can be repaired.  Repairing chips before they spread or grow will prevent a replacement. Larger cracks and chips normally require replacing the entire windshield.

Why Is My Windshield So Important For Safety?
A vehicle’s windshield plays three key roles in automotive safety.

  1. Prevents the driver and passengers from being ejected from the vehicle in the event of an accident or collision.
  2. Helps absorb the impact of airbags as they deploy
  3. Provides structural support, most notably for the roof. This can mean the difference between life and death if the vehicle rolls or comes to rest upside down.

Do you replace all auto glass or just windshields?
We service windshields, windows (both manual and power, as well as off-track problems), side mirrors, rear glass, and much more.  We also provide repair and replacement services for RVs, semis, and heavy equipment.

Does DeDona offer mobile auto glass repair and replacement services?
We provide mobile auto glass repair and replacement services within a 50-mile radius of our Greensboro shop.

Will insurance pay for my new windshield?
Drivers with comprehensive auto insurance are typically covered for damage that may occur to their vehicle.  This coverage includes falling debris, rocks, hail, or other damages to your windshield and other glass.  With comprehensive insurance, you may end up paying very little to replace a window or windshield.  In some cases, a new windshield may cost the driver nothing at all.

Do you file insurance claims for auto glass repair?
We do not file claims on behalf of customers.  However, we do process claims and perform the work once they have been filed with your insurance company.

Will my insurance rates go up?
Typically, your insurance rates will not increase because of an auto glass claim.  Be sure to check with your insurance agent to determine what types of glass repair and replacement are covered under your particular policy.
